Turks & Caicos
I was blessed to spend this past Memorial Day weekend relaxing on the beach in Turks and Caicos. This was such a beautiful island with some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. The sand was white and powdery and the water was a bright turquoise blue and aqua.
Upon arrival to the island we decided to rent a car so we could visit different beaches. If you decide to do this remember cars drive of the left side of the road! It was a bit scary at first but soon my fiancé got the hang of it.
We booked our stay at the Reef Residences. The location was perfect as it was only about a short two-minute walk to the famous Grace Bay beach. Our first stop was to grab some lunch and drinks on the beach at Somewhere Cafe. I highly recommend this place for lunch or breakfast. The food and service was great. After lunch we relaxed on Grace Bay beach and decided to grab some dinner for that evening at the local grocery store. I will say Turks and Caicos is quite expensive. While at the store we were shocked to see boxes of cereal for $8!
The next day we took a drive to Da Conch Shack. Visiting this restaurant was one of my favorite parts of the trip. This is definitely the place to be if you are a conch lover like myself! We enjoyed the Cracked Conch and afterwards saw conch being pulled from it's shell. We also saw many shells that have been used overtime scattered about the beach - this was quite a sight!
We then took a drive to Long Bay Beach, which was my favorite beach we visited. The water was so clear and shallow you could walk forever and feel as though you are miles away in the warm ocean. This beach was a bit hard to find. I recommend driving to The Shore Club resort and accessing the beach from there. This resort seemed fantastic!
After spending hours at the beach we visited Turtle Cove, a small marina and we had dinner at Mango Reef.
The next morning we enjoyed breakfast on the beach one last time before catching our afternoon flight home. This was an awesome beach trip and one I highly recommend!
