Positano, Italy
Hello everyone! It has been quite some time since my last blog post. My husband and I visited Positano, Italy for our 3rd year anniversary in May. We had something extra special to celebrate on this trip since I found out a few months prior that I was pregnant! This would be one of our last big trips for a while so it was important that we picked someplace we both had been longing to visit. Positano is quite frankly one of the most romantic cities I have ever visited and did not disappoint!
Traveling to Positano, Italy
We flew into Rome and the next day took a train to Positano which took about 3 hours. From the Roma Termini station we traveled to Napoli Centrale (1.5 hours). We then transferred to the Sorrento station (1 hour) and from there took a taxi to our villa (45 minutes). You can also take a taxi from the Napoli Station which may cost more but seems safer than going the Sorrento station route. There is no assigned seating on the train from Sorrento, it can be crowed and difficult to manage luggage, and there are multiple stops along the way. We took a taxi straight to Napoli on our way back to Rome, and though more expensive it was easier. All in all, getting to Positano was not all that difficult and the views during the train ride were lovely.
Where we stayed
After many hours of travel we arrived at the beautiful Villa Boheme. This place is a 10/10, I would highly recommend! It is a family owned villa with just three suites. This is easily one of the best places I have ever stayed. We stayed in the Suite Luna which has a private terrace overlooking the famous Positano cliffside and beach. There was also a private stairway that leads right down to the beach. This place books up fast and can be quite pricey but was well worth it! One of my favorite things was the delicious breakfast they set up for you every morning on your private terrace with the stunning views.
Things to Do
Since we knew this would be one of our last big trips for a while, we decided to splurge quite a bit on this trip! We had a blast and did the following:
Day trip to Capri
We took a private boat to Capri Island and this was quite frankly one of my favorite days EVER. I loved being on the private luxury boat with just us and the captain. The views of the Amalfi Coast were stunning! The only thing I regret is not being able to indulge in all the delicious complimentary prosecco and wine because I’m expecting lol. When we arrived in Capri, we hired a driver and did some shopping (my husband bought me my first Gucci bag for my anniversary gift!) and exploring. Afterwards the boat captain took us to a beach club called Conca Del Sogno for lunch where I had some of the best ravioli ever! If you visit Positano or Amalfi coast a boat tour to Capri is a MUST in my opinion.
Day trip to Ravello and Amalfi Coast
Our villa host recommended a day trip to Ravello which was quite a drive further up on the cliffside. We hired a driver for the day to take us to both Ravello and the Amalfi Coast since we decided we needed to actually step foot in Amalfi having travelled all this way. Ravello was gorgeous with well-manicured gardens and beautiful ocean views. We stopped for lunch in Ravello and had pizza before visiting Amalfi. I’m personally super glad we decided to stay in Positano instead of Amalfi coast. Amalfi is a lot more crowded with less stunning views in my opinion. Amalfi does however have better ice cream! If you have the chance stop for a lemon stuffed with yummy gelato/sorbet.
Restaurants
· Rada Rooftop – We really enjoyed the beautiful sunset views at this restaurant. It was actually connected to the Villa Boheme so I liked that we could walk down from our villa to dinner. The food looked and tasted amazing.
· Chez Black – This place seemed quite popular on Instagram. It is located right on the beach boardwalk. While the food wasn’t my favorite, I really enjoyed the vibes and the ambiance.
· Le Sirenuse – We didn’t have a chance to dine here because it was completely booked during our entire stay! But if I ever went back, I would make sure to give this place a visit and it is supposed to be one of the most romantic restaurants ever.
Beach Club
If we had one more day in Positano I would make sure to spend time at a beach club. The club closest to our villa was La Scogliera Positano. It looked super chic and was on the beach with the best views in my opinion. The other option we heard a lot about was Arienzo Beach Club which would have been a short drive away with views of the Amalfi coast.
We really enjoyed our stay Positano and hope to visit again someday! Until next time, Ciao!
