Ireland
When I pictured Ireland I envisioned a land with lush green scenic views, enchanting castles, and… Guinness. Well the country did not disappoint! I have wanted to visit Ireland for quite some time now, and when I was granted a three day weekend off from work in April I took advantage.
My boyfriend and I arrived in Dublin, bright and early on a Friday morning. We were quite jetlagged but we knew we had to take advantage of the only day we would have to spend in the city. After getting settled into our AirBnB, we set out to explore.
The first place we visited was Trinity College. The campus was beautiful and we made sure to visit The Book of Kells exhibit. The library looked just like the library from Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.”
Next we made our way to Dublin Castle to snap a few photos. We quickly continued on our way to tour the Guinness factory- how could I visit Dublin without trying a glass? Our last stop for the day was St. Patrick’s Cathedral before retiring and preparing for a long day trip to Northern Ireland.
We booked a day trip with Paddy Wagon tours to visit Giants Causeway, Carrick-a-reed Bridge, and Belfast.
Carrick-a-reed Bridge was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been and the weather during our trip was perfect. I crossed the bridge trying to overcome my fear of heights and not look down at the deep blue water beneath me.
The main attraction on our road trip was Giants Causeway. I googled pictures of the very strange looking hexagon shaped rocks surrounded by the ocean and knew I had to add this place to my bucket list. My boyfriend and I spent our time climbing the rocks and snapping pictures.
We continued north for a quick visit to Belfast. On the way we stopped for a photograph with Dunluce Castle- a castle featured on one of favorite shows “Game of Thrones.” As we explored the city of Belfast we were amazed by the beautiful architecture. We did some shopping and before we knew it, it was time to return to Dublin.
We spent our last night in Dublin enjoying some delicious Sheppard’s Pie and Guinness Beef Stew. We had an amazing time and can’t wait to visit again in the future!
